NUÂ Boatman Rick Schroeder confirms that the Corsair was sitting on the rack at Henderson when he came on the job in 1997 and remained there until 2026.

The 60th Anniversary celebration of Men's Rowing took place on September 27, 2025. At that celebration, Bill Strobel '76 and Calvin Coffey '74, noticed the Corsair sitting on a top rack in the men's boatbay of Henderson Boathouse. Both had rowed the Corsair at Northeastern and won Sprints and IRA medals in the boat. The two got to talking about how it was a shame that the Corsair was just sitting there with no use and life as it was such a significant part of the early 1970's great crews. Calvin being a master engineer designing and building crew racing shells and rowing machines all his life and Bill being a master car restorer, talked about how great it might be to see the Corsair restored.

Soon after the 60th celebration, both men spoke several times and with it the idea of a full restoration project of the Corsair was born. 2026 is the year of Corsair Restoration.
